A world where a look into the eye is the first step in every person's healthcare

Oku turns ocular data into systemic, brain, and mental health insights, making the routine eye exam a new front line for earlier disease detection, connected multidisciplinary care, and faster development of new therapies.

What we believe

( 01 )

Patients before pixels

The data, the AI, and the platform exist to change a person's health outcome. Every model we deliver and every dataset we curate must trace to earlier detection, better care, or a faster path to treatment. When commercial value and patient value diverge, patient value decides.

( 02 )

Evidence is the product

We operate in regulated medicine, not consumer tech. Claims are earned through validation, peer review, and regulatory rigor. In oculomics, credibility compounds faster than code.

( 03 )

Earn the data, honor the trust

Privileged access to imaging and data at global scale is a stewardship obligation, not just an asset. Privacy, security, transparent consent, and responsible AI are the reason providers, patients, and partners keep the network growing.

( 04 )

Open by design

We win by connecting an ecosystem of devices, EMRs, providers, pharma, and payers, not by walling one off. Connected care is not zero-sum: Oku expands access for more patients and creates new incentives across the healthcare ecosystem.

( 05 )

Move at the speed of the window

Being first in oculomics is a position that must be re-earned continuously. We bias toward launching, learning, and iterating, because every year of delay is measured in undiagnosed disease and stalled trials, not just lost revenue.

Built by a diverse and experienced team

Oku's founding leadership team brings together experience from enterprise technology, ophthalmic devices, pharmaceutical services, and clinical data infrastructure. This includes leaders from Topcon, Microsoft, NVIDIA, Roche/Genentech, and GE Healthcare.

The infrastructure behind Oku

Oku is the workflow and connectivity infrastructure for broader access to earlier disease detection. Device-inclusive by design, Oku links imaging systems, clinical data, providers, patients, and partners on a single platform built for AI-powered real-world care. It makes the data already being captured more usable and more actionable for clinical practice or clinical trials.
‍
At its core is Connect2Care, the layer that unifies image acquisition, longitudinal data, AI-enabled insights, and referrals. Intelligence is embedded in the workflow, turning scattered clinical information into clear next steps.
‍
By connecting data to decisions and decisions to care, Oku delivers earlier disease detection, more efficient workflows, and better outcomes for patients, providers, and pharma partners.

The depth behind the name

Oku takes its name from the Japanese word 奥, meaning depth, the inner, what lies further in.

The name reflects both what Oku does and where it comes from. Oku is a digital health company built on Topcon Healthcare's ophthalmic device network. Topcon Healthcare is part of Topcon Corporation, founded in Tokyo in 1932. More than 90 years of Japanese optical engineering sits behind the platform. The name is an acknowledgment of that lineage: precision, patience, and the pursuit of what the eye can reveal about ocular and systemic health when the right tools are applied.
